I grew up in West Chester, PA. My love for baseball started when I began playing in my local t-ball league (I am the one in the bright yellow sweatpants!). Like a lot of little boys, it was my dream to someday play professional baseball! In high school I was a three sport, varsity athlete competing in football, basketball and baseball. Baseball is my passion. I played third base and pitched occasionally for my high school and legion teams. My parents and I thought it would be a good idea for me to get pitching lessons, so I could maximize my pitching potential. That was a good decision because it got me noticed at several showcases for my pitching ability. I also received the "black bat" award, which was awarded to the player with the best batting average. I was selected to the Philadelphia All Area Team and was an Eastern Pennsylvania All-Star.
I was recruited by Western Carolina University to be a pitcher. I could not turn down the opportunity to come south and play baseball. I fell in love with the South and have not left since! My primary pitching role in college was as a starter despite being a fastball pitcher. In 2003, we were the Southern Conference regular season and tournament champions. I received the award for the 2003 Southern Conference Tournament Most Outstanding Pitcher.
I was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in 2003 after my senior year in college. I played six seasons with the Atlanta Braves organization, most of which were with the AAA team in Richmond, VA. I was invited to the major league spring training three times. I gained a vast amount of experience with the Braves because they used me in many different pitching roles, including as a starter, closer, and middle reliever. I was selected for and participated in the 2005 Top Prospect Arizona Fall League, where my team won the Championship. In 2007, I was a member of the AAA Richmond Braves who won the International League Championship. That same season, the Braves awarded me with the "Community Award" for my outstanding community service contributions.
In 2009 I played in Somerset, New Jersey for the Somerset Patriots in the Atlantic League where my primary pitching role was as a Set-Up man for the Closer. Our team won the 2009 Atlantic League Championship!
In 2010 I did it again! I played for the York Revolution in the Atlantic League and we won the 2010 Championship. I was the only player to win back to back Championships the past two seasons.
